Belgian prince Amedeo marries Italian journalist

Soon, the world will lose another enviable groom. Prince Amedeo, who is sixth in the line for the Belgian throne, is about to marry his longtime girlfriend, journalist Elisabetta Maria Rosboch von Volkenstein (Elisabetta Maria Rosboch Wolkenstein).

The Belgian authorities have already quoted the official appeal of Princess Astrid, mother of the 27-year-old heir to the throne: “Their Royal Highness Princess Astrid and Prince Lorenz are very pleased to announce the engagement of His Royal Highness Prince Amedeo and Miss Elizabeth Maria Rosboh von Volkenstein.”

The Italian bride, who is only a year younger than her future spouse, is known in narrow circles as "Lily." Since 2009, the girl works in New York as a journalist and maintains a column of cultural chronicles in the Bloomberg newspaper.

She is the only child of Ettore Rosboch von Wolkenstein and his wife, Countess Lilia de Smecchia, well-known Italian producers. Rosboh is one of the most eminent and wealthy families in the country.

The prince and his bride have been dating for more than 7 years and live together in New York. The couple met when Amedeo and Lily studied in London. The Italian aristocrat studied literature and cinema at the University of Queen Mary, and the prince, whose relatives affectionately called “Ame,” was educated at the London School of Economics. On Valentine's Day, young people were seen in a crowd of lovers in St. Peter's Square in the Vatican, where Pope Francis gave his blessing to engaged couples.

It is worth noting that Prince Amedeo, who will be 28 years old in a few days, is not the first member of the royal family of Belgium, who gave his preference to a native of sunny Italy.

Queen Paola, the grandmother of the groom, who ruled from 1993 to 2013, was born in Toscana. That is why the heir to the throne is fluent in Italian.

Moreover, he is also not the first royal bachelor who decided to marry a journalist. About ten years ago, Crown Prince of Spain Filipe offered his hand and heart to the famous television star Letizia Ortiz Rocasolano.

In their official address, the parents of the crown prince of Belgium did not say when the Italian journalist would join their family. It is worth noting that Amedeo has a younger brother Joachim, who is also the heir to the throne, and three sisters: Princess Maria Laura, Louise Maria and Letizia Maria. The newly made groom himself entered into the right of inheritance back in 1991. His chances of reigning instantly improved two years later, when his maternal grandfather ascended the throne as King Albert II. Then Amedeo took third place in the line of inheritance after his uncle Philip and mother Astrid. However, in 1999, Philip married, and in 2001 he had a daughter, who removed the young prince one position down.

Numerous additions to the royal family significantly reduced the chances of the 27-year-old heir to the throne, so the likelihood that the Italian girl will become Queen of Belgium is extremely small.
